Jamaholic Confession

"My name is BradM...

...and I'm a taper."

"Hi, Brad!"

"It started innocently enough...I'd download shows other people had taped, listen to them, and imagine what it would be like to tape shows. When I'd be at shows where people were taping, I'd hover around them, basking in the technological glow, and the light from the equipment. It shone at me, like small beacons in the distance...or maybe like a lighthouse, warning me about the shoals I was a... more

Awakened By The Dead

I have been a music fan as long as I can remember. Learned to play guitar at age 12 and from that time on, playing music was my only goal in life. Growing up in a small town there was not much exposure to live music unless you wanted to listen to Top 40 or country cover bands. I knew there had to be more adventurous stuff than that out there. Eventually I fell in...more

i love jam music

Punched in the eye...

The first indication that I would be a slave to the groove came while listening to Electric Ladyland on a couple of "blue lightnings" when I was just a wee lad....Jerry and Trey sealed the deal!!!

Now I just can't stop it.......and I really don't want to!!

I had never heard of it, so he ran and found his Mom's American Beauty CD and played it for me, then I immediately needed to hear the rest of the album...and then all other "releases" from the Grateful Dead...not knowing yet about their tape tradi...more

ekoostik hookah brought me in

I'd been to a few Dead shows, then Jerry died. Tried to go Further....something was missing.

In Spring of 1999, I went to Hookahville and found home. The scene, the music...I came to see Ratdog but left a hookahhead....have seen them well over 100 times since then.

Now I'm looking forward to Memorial Day, Hookahville 21, here in Central Ohi...more

Parents hooked me

Although I am still young (14) I consider myself a jamaholic... My parents are deadheads, and I have embraced my origin, and carried the torch, because they need to work and stuff, but my dad is still a major jamaholic... but I would have to say The Dead and Phish (of course)Gov't Mule, and many others...and I just started listening to moe. So thanks for caring,...more
