My mom made me do it.
So there I was, sitting at a friend's house listening to a 1967 Avalon Ballroom show, somehow immediately ensnared by the murky mayhem of the whole other one thing, grabbed by the immediacy of whateverthehell they were after that night. That tape changed everything, from living at the farm with the stage out back to mad mad grateful dead road trips to rediculous tape collections and profound lifelong friendships and years playing music.
